I have done a search on gas tanks as I have been lurking here since the purchase of a 1982 Marathon last fall & know there was a post about Joe Pollard selling tanks but can't find it or the price which if I remember was fairly high.
My 82 was originaly on propane but that had been removed & was running on gas from a boat tank in the trunk, I purchased the Checker at a movie car auction & guess that's all they needed.
I have also read on the forum that 55 - 57 Chevy tanks should work but not found any one that had done it.
My question is since the Chevy tank with straps & sending unit will be over $300 has any body done this, if not how do I contact Joe for one that will as car is in great shape & runs well but not safe to drive the way it is.
Thanks from a new member |

Joe Pollard is Checker Parts. He has an ad in the back of every newsletter. Also, the most recent newsletter (Winter 2008) has an "Owners Profile" on Joe.
You can phone him at 818-999-1485 ... the best time is between 5 and 7 AM west coast time - really, that's when he is up and going if he has a movie shoot with the cars.
You can email him: sales at checkerparts.com (I've added spaces and left out the @ to confuse automated spam programs).
Or you can write to him at:
Checker Parts
9331 Johnell Road
Chatsworth, CA, 91311
He has been pretty hard to get hold of recently.

BTW: I hope whoever moved the car back to gasoline didn't just reset the timing but actually knew enough about the propane cars to also change the distributor back to a gasoline model (or at least rebuilt it properly changing the plate, weights and springs) ... the propane version distributor had more initial advance but less total advance.
PS: I took the liberty of deleting your duplicate post. |

Thanks for the prompt reply with the contact info info. Also the advise to check the distributer as it's been years since I have had propane vehicles & had forgotten about that.
I would pay extra up front for a tank that will fit with no problems than buy one that might not. |
