The Checker Taxi Stand

There will be a TAXI exhibit at the New York International Auto Show.
Javits Center 11th Ave at 35th St. Dates are April 6-15, daily 11am to 10:30pm (Sundays, 10am to 7pm) with FREE admission. This is being sponsored by the Design Trust for Public Space and features a "sneak preview of the next generation of Taxi prototypes that could be your next ride." Included in the exhibit will be at least one classic Checker Cab, my 1956 A8. This cab is pictured in the albums on this site. It is one of only four known and is finished in original yellow and green NYC colors of the 50s. Bruce Uhrich

Is admission to the Taxi Design area free and/or to the NY Auto show?

According to the Design Trust for Public Space, the Taxi 07 Exhibit is free and does not require admission to the New York Auto Show to see the it. Directions state that it is at the Javits Center, 11th Ave & 35th Street, enter via outdoor stairway or through the lower level of the convention center. The auto show website shows the exhibit on the inner roadway outside the north concourse entrance to the show. The Jeep display is next to the Taxi. Hope you can visit. Bruce
