Found pictures of 2 Checkers that ended up being used in Banger/Stock car races here in England.
The blue one was used/destroyed in the late eighties early ninties and the yellow one in 2003 it is claimed

Just been doing a bit of digging...
The second pictre the Checker still shows its number plate of 292 JUA.
It comes back as being a 1979 model, imported to England in 1987 and last on the road in 2002 Crying or Very sad

there are some people who just don't get it. I spotted a demolished Suzuki Swift on top of a load of scrap iron going to the scrap yard last week. I contacted the guy and bought it from him for parts. I found out that before he loaded it on the trailer there was not a dent in the car and it was a running driving car, just had a broken clutch cable. And the new clutch cable was in the back seat on the floor, in the box, with the reciept.

When I asked the scrappie about it, he just looked at me with that slack-jawed look and said, "well, I don't know how to fix 'em, they're just tonnage to me". The only way I can load them is with the back-hoe.

I got the running gear out of it and hauled the mangled remains to the scrap yard.
