|
|
I've sent this to the Checker e-mail group as welll, but figured it best to cast as wide a net as possible.
Has anyone had a Checker that lived in the States and has had it brought over to the UK in the last 3-4 years? I may be in a position shortly to have to make that decision and I'm wrestling with whether to give it a try, to keep the car in the U.S. gathering dust, or sell it.
Given the age of the car I'm not even sure if it can come up to the specs necessary to be registered and operated in Britain. I have info on companies to contact, but if someone has had prior experience I'd sure like to know about it.
Please contact me directly at: dbronx@aol.com
Thanks,
Steve

Very easy.
As it's over 10 years old it will be a case of changing some of the lights to comply with UK regs, get an MOT test (road worthiness test) and then you can apply to get it registered.
Very straightforward.
Only when an import is 10 years or younger is there a more stringent initial test.
If you have any specific questions don't hesitate to ask me

Hi
If i were you i would contact the DVLA in GB to get specifict detailed info there is a lot at their website
http://www.dvla.gov.uk/
to check up the import regulations they have i belive they can ansewr all
your worries beeing a 76 you pass the classic car age and over in europe
that means no import tax on that wehicle i belive its the same in GB
what i know you need is the title owner documents and all registration
documents
with that it shouldnt be any problem
here in sweden we have a rule that sais that if you have owned a car moore
than a year you can bring it as a part of your moove wothout tax (newer
cars) also it involves special rules when it comes to seatbelts and such.
but as i said Check with DVLA _________________ 1963 A12W
