I want to have the following work done on a '73 A-12. Re-upholster bench seats, sand blast removal of rubberized undercoating, application of POR-15 (including inside of doors), repair of all (small) rust spots, painting of interior/exterior, re-chroming of fenders and (mechanical) repair of valve guide(s). I am in DC metro area but will ship/drive car for the right cost effective solution. Can anyone offer recommendations for shops that are reasonably priced and competent. Any recommendations and comments on your experiences will be appreciated by all. Thanks.

I would not sand blast undercoating off doors it is too time comsuming and it can cause panel warping if whole panel are done because of the thickness of the metal. Try heat like a propane torch on undercoating to get warm then a puddy knife to scrape. then to remove access use a chemical like kerosene to wash. then maybe a final step of brake clean. if that dont work i dont know what will. sure you can sandblast rust but if its not rusty dont. im in the western ny area. always looking for projects on the side it would depend on condition of the vehicle for me to consider. 18 ASE certifications. love the cabs.
