The 78 parts manual doesn't specify the metal fuel line size but the clips holding it are spec'ed as 3/8 single tube and the union fitting as a 3/8 inverted flare. So I would assume the metal line from the tank to a junction block on the frame by the driver's front wheel was 3/8 OD. There is a different fuel line with a reference to a 1/4 inverted flare fitting which is apparently the line from the union / junction block to the mechanical fuel pump so I would assume the final fuel delivery lines are 1/4 OD.A somewhat bigger line wouldn't hurt anything as long as you can use a reducer to match up to whatever fittings there are on both ends.
