hi there, we have a 1978 checker marathon and we have brake fluid leaking from the front caliper, my mechanic here in the uk tells me that i need 2 new copper washers that fit onto the banjo bolt?

the problem is due to our sizes in the uk and your sizes in the usa i am unable to source any copper washers here, does anybody know where i can order these from?

Not sure offhand but, I searched a bit in the local parts store chains and came up with some options. Since I'm due for a trip to the parts store tomorrow I'll take a look and see what they have on hand and compare to my '76 A-11.

I took a look at my left front caliper and banjo connection. Unfortunately, to get a better idea of the copper washer size I'd have to remove the hose. I took a quick picture for what's it worth and had the local NAPA parts store look up the size. According to their database, the bolt thread size is 3/8" so I bought two 3/8" inner diameter washers and two 7/16" inner diameter washers. I have a feeling that the 7/16" are correct. I measured the inner and out diameters of what I bought for reference.

3/8" Inner = 9.77mm inside and 16.23 outside
7/16" Inner = 11.25mm inside and 18.52 outside

If you want them, send me your address and I'll put them in the mail (send it to c_hutter at msn dot com). Dont worry about the cost. If I ever get back to the UK you can buy buy me a pint.

Here's a picture of the washers that I picked up with my poor attempt to show you the dimensions.

In case you missed my other message, the washers are on their way as of Monday morning. According to the fine people at the US Postal Service, the envelope should get to you in 7 days. Let me know when they arrive and if they do the trick.

Thanks,

Chris
