Last NY City Medallion Cab For Sale (Again...) |

 "Janie", Earl Johnson's old Checker taxicab (the last "medallion"
Checker cab to operate in New York City) is up on the auction block
again. Back in 1999, when Earl was forced to retire the cab, it
was auctioned at Sotheby's for an amazing $134,500 to singer-songwriter
Anders Holst. The auction will be held on June
4 at a Christie's auction in Greenwich, Connecticut. The owner
hopes whoever ends up with the car will put the car "back into mint
condition."
UPDATE: The car sold for a mere $9,400.00 (a bit more realistic a price than the $134,500 it sold for a few years ago).
