Welcome to the ALL-NEW Checker Taxi Stand. Your one-stop source for
information on automobiles from the Checker Motors Corporation in
Kalamazoo, Michigan. Please note that this site is not operated by
Checker Motors and is a personal site for entertainment and information
purposes only.
History of the Site...
When I was a child, I used to go to New York City all the time to visit
my grandparents and relatives. This was the early 1970s and back then
if you wanted a cab in Manhattan, you wanted a Checker. No two ways
about it. I remember that we would wait and wave off other cabs on
until a Checker came along. Now those were the days. The huge yellow
taxicab with its checker stripes and jump seats was just amazing.
When the World Wide Web came around, I searched for sites with any
information on Checkers and came up with a very very short list. So I
decided to start the Checker Taxi Stand, and here it is! I'll be making
lots of changes to the site real soon so please check back often.
